Vision workshop

A vision workshop is a one or two day event designed to help you identify a vision for your team, department or organisation.

Why do you need a vision?

Teams, departments and organisations with a vision are more successful than those without.

Why do you need an external facilitator?

As the team leader, department head or CEO you may already have a pretty good idea of what you would like the vision to be. By involving a wider group of people in developing the vision, you can not only ensure that people are really committed to it, but that the vision is really thought through properly. Having an external facilitator not only means that the workshop is well structured and focuses on the right things, but it means that you can join in fully without having to manage the process too.

Who should take part in the vision workshop?

You want a small group with enough knowledge of your business to come up with a really well informed vision, and enough trust and respect to convince everyone else. Often this is your top team, but there is sometimes a good case for including selected 'front line' staff in the process too.

What topics does the workshop cover?

  • Current strengths and weaknesses of your team, department or organisation
  • Analysis of your current customers and what they think of you
  • Analysis of your competitors, and how they compare in terms of product, price and service.
  • Using the technique of scenario planning, we'll consider alternative business outlooks for the years ahead.
  • Identifying the key elements of your vision.
  • Distilling it down into something that is clear, exciting, challenging yet achievable.
  • Next steps – how to communicate the vision and how to implement it.

One or two days?

Depends on the size and complexity of your enterprise. A team or small department is usually one day, a large department or organisation is usually two.
